Writer, Rita Riebel Mitchell, grew up with Nancy Drew, Twilight Zone, and Saturday Night Chiller Theater. It’s no wonder she doesn’t write comedy. Her penchant for reading mystery, science fiction, and psychological horror gives her the inspiration for writing her short and not-so-sweet stories.
Living in the Pinelands of South Jersey is the perfect place for Rita. During short solitary walks in the woods, she ponders her WIPs* and is often accompanied by characters who reside in her fictional worlds. She enjoys taking photos of living nature, dead and disfigured trees, spider webs, and the occasional wildlife skeleton.
If you’re looking for her and she’s not writing in her bat cave/home office, she might be tending her vegetable garden or cooking something tasty. She practices yoga in her sunroom and reads sitting in “the red chair” or on the deck (weather permitting). Among her favorite places to visit are garden centers, flea markets, craft stores, old cemeteries, bookstores, and the local library.
